MICHAEL J. MOREL
Horticulturalist . Arborist . Owner
Michael Morel is a native Florida-born, ISA Certified Arborist who has spent the last two decades designing, installing and maintaining luxury, design-forward properties and communities across South Florida. His natural obsession with plants and trees started at a very young age, heavily influenced by endless weekends exploring his grandparent’s lush backyard in Opa Locka, Florida.
Mike has held prominent positions in the landscape sector- starting as City Landscaper for Deerfield Beach where he designed several civic landscape projects including Tivoli Sand Pines Preserve, Linear Park, Hillsboro streetscapes, and created forestation initiatives for various HOAs throughout the city.
In 2007 Mike became the Director of Horticulture for the private exclusive community, Fisher Island where his accomplishments include re-structuring the landscape department with over 60 employees; adopted eco-friendly self-sustaining practices for the island; as well as the design, installation and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, parks, and building landscapes. Fisher Island allowed Mike to hone and hybridize his unique experiences in the municipal and private sectors, for the aesthetic benefit of the 200+ acre island.
In 2017 Mike returned to the private sector interfacing with developers on high profile landscape projects including the Four Seasons Surf Club; 1 Hotel; Starwood Capital; Jade Signature and The Continuum- then in 2021- finally cementing his extensive landscape career experiences into OVERLAND where he continues to use his expertise and know-how to execute and maintain beautifully designed landscapes.
Mike is an avid fisherman, boater, foodie and yogi with a super rad sense of humor. His favorite tree is the Taxodium (Bald Cypress). He lives in sunny Miami Beach with his two boys Victor and Julien, wife Annhy and senior dog Lulu.
